windowClone is a simple, faceless, macOS AppleScript application which duplicates the Finder Window containing it when launched. It is intended to be placed in the toolbar at the top of Finder windows. I use it at least ten times a day so have decided to share it thinking others may also find it useful.

As of version 1.4 windowClone is a universal binary app which will work on Intel and Apple Silicon Macs without resorting to installing Apple Rosetta on the latter. It is compatible with macOS versions 11 through 13. An older version of windowClone is available for macOS 10.15 which will also work on earlier operating systems but the icon will look a little odd in the Finder window toolbar.

windowClone is distributed without a warranty of any kind and with a Creative Commons license (CC BY-NC-ND). This license allows users to copy and distribute the material in unadapted form only, for noncommercial purposes only, and only so long as attribution is given to the creator.

Download the version of windowClone which matches your operating system. The only difference between them is the icon. The icons are not responsive to the Light Mode or Dark Mode of the macOS, hence two versions for macOS 10.15.x and earlier. The icon for macOS 11 and later looks okay in both Light and Dark Mode.
