Tasked with designing and building an immersive audio and 3D video laboratory for Colby College, custom projector rigging was developed to maintain as much clearance as possible above the floor in the impossibly small and low-ceiling space.
Barco modeled and signed off on my design, but they never actually tested the new ultra-short throw lenses on the F80 projectors in “ceiling” orientation. The lenses could make only intermittent connection to the projectors resulting in all manner of errors.
The video design will need to be reworked, and completely new custom rigging hardware fabricated, before returning to complete the job. The 3D workstation by the College is not yet complete so the delay is not actually holding up the project, but it is definitely causing a problem with the budget.
